So, You Wanna Break into the Cannabis Industry? August 2021
Concept: My assignment was to create an alternative story format to answer questions that readers may have about how to enter the burgeoning cannabis industry. I decided to focus on career advice + FAQs on the left-hand page, and get more into the types of occupations and their salaries on the right-hand page.
Work: This spread was created for a digital cannabis guide produced by The Outlaw Report and District Fray Magazine in Washington, D.C.
Inspiration: I was inspired by muted and earthy colors, as well as the styling of Cosmopolitan's alternative story layouts. I wanted this design to come across as welcoming, playful and inviting. It's also on the feminine side, which I found to be a nice change of pace from the usual aesthetic of career-centered stories
Challenges: I had a quick turnaround, so I didn't have as much time to brainstorm and develop my concept as I usually do. With this project, I learned that it's okay to let go of my designs/projects before I think they're perfect because the truth is, they never will be!
